De jury die de tweede lichting 'Kauffman studenten' gaat beoordelen is als volgt samengesteld:

   

Jaap BlaakJaap Blaak 

Jaap Blaak is a serial entrepreneur who is well experienced in the life sciences. He studied Physics and Economics at Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam, and attended the Advanced Management Program at Harvard Business School. He started his carreer at Hoogovens and moved from there to head Indivers subsidiaries Eldim and Elbar, Interturbine Group (which expanded to Germany, Singapore and the USA), and Maatschappij voor Industriele Projecten (MIP Equity Fund, later Alpinvest). With the start of TAilWind BV in 1995, Blaak became investor and co-founder in several (biotech) companies and funds in the Netherlands, including Pepscan, VenGen and Flexgen. He is also chairman of the board at Pharming NV, and acts as a member of several advisory committees to the Dutch Ministry of Economic Affairs. 

 

Bernd DammeBernd Damme 

Bernd Damme (1990) has always been an early starter. In his early teens he amazed prime minister Balkenende by submitting his essay entitled The New Deal. A mature economic vision for a new Golden Age. And despite the fact that he is still young he is already a major player in the sunglasses branch. He has been running Eye-wear.nl (a business specialised in selling (branded) sunglasses) since 2006. This young entrepreneur is not only expanding his sunglasses empire in the Netherlands in a carefully planned fashion, but the company is already active in Scandinavia, Belgium, Austria, Switzerland and Germany. Damme was nominated for the Sprout '25 entrepreneurs under 25' and the Studenten Ondernemersprijs and won second place in the Thuiswinkel Awards in 2010.   

 

Louis HoeksLouis Hoeks

Louis Hoeks (1969) studied Philosophy but then went into journalism. For ten years now he has been occupied with entrepreneurs and entrepreneurship, among other things through his work for the entrepreneurial trade journal ‘bizz' and as co-founder and editor-in-chief of the entrepreneurs' platform, Sprout. For the past 2½ years he has worked for the Financieele Dagblad where he set up and still manages the FD Entrepreneur section and also writes a weekly column on entrepreneurship. He is also a moderator for the FD Gazellen Awards (for the fastest growing companies in the Netherlands), chairman/moderator of various entrepreneurial events, and frequently speaks on BNR Nieuwsradio on a variety of subjects of interest to entrepreneurs. Among other things he was also on the panel of judges for the Livewire Young Business Award.

 

Wendy TorranceWendy Torrance

Wendy E.F. Torrance directs the Kauffman Foundation's Global Scholars Program. The Program fosters entrepreneurship by immersing select young engineering, science, and technology scholars from around the world in America's entrepreneurial culture, with a view to fostering their ability to create innovative companies with global reach. Torrance led the Program through its creation in 2005 and welcomed the first class of Global Scholars in January 2006. Prior to joining the Foundation, Torrance was assistant dean of freshmen and lecturer on social studies at Harvard University, where she also was appointed director of undergraduate student programs at the Weatherhead Center for International Affairs. Torrance graduated Phi Beta Kappa with honors from the University of Washington, with bachelor's degrees in international studies and political science. Torrance has a Ph.D. in political science from Harvard University, where she was awarded a National Science Foundation Graduate Fellowship.
